Staff helpful if uneasy with those speaking little Spanish. Rooms and bathrooms spotless. Location
Little natural light, and the amount of noise that echoes round the corridors at night.

The location and the owners were nice but pushy
I am not a fussy traveller, but this hostal was the pits. Bare light bulbs, cats, noise, no windows, worse than basic. No one in 2011 would expect to check into somewhere like this in Western Europe. It was not even that cheap. No soap, no towels, All in all, just horrible. I checked out after one night, and was supposed to stay three.

convenience to the metro station and walking distance from the castle
1) the staff did not speak any english... so communication was difficult. Also the reception area was rather dingy. The bathroom had no rug to step out of the bath tub and became very slippery. that would be safety hazard. 2) hotel did not provide the basic towel. Had to purchase the towel.

The rooms stink, no soap, no towel, room was around 2.5sqmt, no room for luggage, blankets soiled and stink badly, absolutely the worst hostal of its category, very very dissapointing.

The rooms were awful: our was extremely noisy, was not possible sleep, son`s was without window and heater - cold and uncomfortable. Was not possible to use the bath in the room. *Bathroom* meant only the bath, but WC anyway was sheared

Very nice stuff. A kind woman cleaned our room every day. She had a rabbit very cute
In our room was only one electricity plug and even it was occupied by ventilator

Cute little spot. I stayed 3 nights for EUR 80, with a private room and shared bath. EXCELLENT! Great location, fast wifi, clean shared baths, not full by any means-- had the place mostly to myself. The staff speak virtually no English, which was fine, but could be hard for the more needy traveler... The owner has a cute little bunny that runs (or hops!) around the common area at night, while she watches TV and keeps watch. I had a friend come over one night, she said a visit was fine, but if he wanted to stay he'd have to pay EUR 10. Not a big deal... she said she didn't care what we did, just that he paid if he slept over... totally her passive gay friendliness.
only a few rooms with street view... make sure you get one!

Very nice and pleasent staff. Dont know english a lot but enoguh. In hostel is home atmosphere. Towels changed every 3 days, transh taken away every day. Our room had window and room was faced twards the street. Shared bathrooms were always clean and always with hot water. Hostel is very centrum, so we almost didnt need metro: 2 min from royal palace, 5 min from placa mayor, 7 min from puerta del sol, 5 min from gran via street. Good value for the money. Wifi connection was good.
Beds could be a bit more comfortable. Some rooms are without windows, with us it was not the case. Becouse it is in centrum it may be too noisy on saturday night. There are clubs and restaurants nearby, and noisy spanish people. Its the case everywhere in the centrum of madrid becouse the city lives at night.

Price and transportation is the main reason for your best choice.
I like it and I will definitely recommend it to my friends who have a plan to visit Madrid.

The location was very convenient and in the center, permitting us to walk to all of the main attractions quickly. Being right next to the metro helped a lot as well.
The mattresses were not very comfortable, but flat. Otherwise, decent setup. A little bit pricey for the stay.
